Innovation is the hallmark of Madison County's Solid Waste Department. It is a recognized leader in New York State in promoting and exemplifying all kinds recycling and environmentally-sustainable practices for Madison County residents, businesses, farms, and agencies.
A recent innovation is the department's leadership in encouraging and promoting the ag plastics recycling pilot program within the farming community. Plans are currently being explored that could potentally site a plastics-to-oil facility in Madison County.
Cornell University specialists from RAPP - Recycle Agricultural Plastics - have collaborated and consulted with Madison County Solid Waste Department professionals for many years. Cornell Cooperative Extension of Madison County is part of that ongoing collaboration.
